Alcohol abuse and alcoholism are prevalent in our society. This ubiquitous illness can be found in every economic level, every race, every nationality, the young, and the elderly. Alcohol abusers do not realize the effect alcohol is having on their bodies. If this drinking pattern is not interrupted, abusers will become alcoholics; individuals who are dependent on the drug alcohol. The quantity of alcohol one consumes, the type of alcoholic beverage one consumes or the length of time one consumes alcoholic beverages do not define an alcoholic; the effect the dependency on alcohol has on the individual's life defines an alcoholic regardless if the individual drinks daily or periodically....

No Impact of Calorie or Unit Information on Ad Libitum Alcohol Consumption Abstract To investigate the impact of unit and calorie information on drinking behaviour in an ad libitum taste test paradigm. In this experimental human laboratory study, participants were randomized to one of four conditions, balanced by gender, using a 2 (unit information: present vs. absent) × 2 (calorie information: present vs. absent) between-subjects design. The percentage of beer consumed during the taste test was the primary outcome measure.
